By breaking down these chords on a chord chart, players can easily visualize where to place their fingers. Let’s take a look now at what it looks like on a chord chart.
When reading a chord chart, the numbers correspond to the fingers on your hand, indicating where to place them on the fretboard and which strings to play. For example, in the C Major chord, your index finger would be placed on the 1st fret of the B string, your middle finger on the 2nd fret of the D string, and your ring finger on the 3rd fret of the A string.
The “X” symbol indicates that a string should not be played, while the “O” symbol indicates that a string should be played open, without any finger on it. The number on the upper left side of the chart indicates which fret should be played with the first finger.
